Mona Schapiro Flax graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in 1976. She then went on to receive a Juris Doctorate degree in 1980 from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. As an experienced family attorney, she has practiced law for 36 years with a primary emphasis in domestic relations and family law. Providing high-quality legal services, she works hard to reach the best possible outcome.
Mona has served on several statewide committees for the Virginia State Bar, including the Family Law Board of Governors, the General Practice Board of Governors (which she chaired), the Professionalism Faculty, the committee for selection of statewide judicial candidates, and the Second District Committee for review of attorney ethics violations. Serving on two committees for the Virginia Beach Bar Association, she has lectured on family law topics for continuing legal education in Virginia.
She's been married to Jeffrey C. Flax for 36 years. They live in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with their labradoodle, Sophie Flax. She has twin sons, Harris and Jeremy Flax, who are 28 years old.
Mona is on the board of directors for the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater and the board of directors for Congregation Beth El. Her hobbies and interests include travel, yoga, group cycle, Mahjong, and reading.
